CKE Restaurants boosts parking lot lighting while meeting California Title 24 with Cree Lighting

CKE Restaurants, Inc., the operator of Carl's Jr. restaurants, faced a challenge at its company-owned location in Carpinteria, California. During a remodel, the company needed to upgrade its parking lot lighting to significantly improve performance while meeting California's stringent Title 24 energy efficiency requirements for exterior lighting, all with zero light trespass onto neighboring properties. To address this, CKE energy manager Juliann Rogers sought the most energy-efficient solution and decided to compare LED options against traditional metal halide luminaires.

Cree Lighting provided the solution with its Cree Edge area luminaires. These luminaires were selected for their ability to precisely place the right amount of light within the parking lot boundaries while using less energy. By implementing Cree Lighting's solution, the Carl's Jr. location successfully met the aggressive Title 24 mandates and eliminated light trespass, achieving a significant increase in lighting performance and energy efficiency.
