City of Los Angeles saves $10M annually with Cree Lighting LED streetlights

The City of Los Angeles faced a significant challenge as its streetlighting system, the second-largest in the nation, consumed approximately 29 percent of the city's total operating budget. To address this, the city collaborated with Cree Lighting on its Green Streetlight Program to upgrade its existing fixtures with Cree LEDway luminaires.

The solution implemented by Cree Lighting is projected to save the city an estimated $10 million annually in energy and maintenance costs after the upgrade is paid for. The program's funding, which included energy rebates and loans, will be repaid from these savings over seven years. This project by Cree Lighting allows Los Angeles to tackle both economic and environmental challenges effectively.
