Maine Department of Transportation completes culvert repair in under 5 days with Creative Composites Group

Creative Composites Group provided a culvert lining repair solution for the Maine Department of Transportation. The challenge was to rehabilitate a corroded steel culvert on Mount Desert Island without excavating the roadway above it, while also incorporating specific components for aquatic wildlife passage.

The solution implemented by Creative Composites Group was a unique FRP culvert repair system developed in collaboration with the University of Maine. The installation was completed in less than five days and is expected to last over 50 years. The project was finished well ahead of schedule, and the solution provided the required wildlife passage with a minimal increase in invert elevation.
