Regione Lazio, the third most populated region in Italy, faced a significant challenge in managing procurement for its healthcare system. With every hospital using a separate ERP system, materials were codified differently, leading to severe data quality issues that prevented accurate spend analysis and the identification of equivalent items. Creactives was engaged to help achieve goals including part number reduction, supplier consolidation, and overall cost reduction.

Creactives implemented a parallel solution combining a spend analysis tool (TSV) and a master data management service (TAM - MMDM). Their solution performed a semantic match between the region's master data and the official Ministry of Health codes for medical devices and drugs. The results were significant, with tests demonstrating that over 90% of the region's spend could be classified using Creactives' ontology without any customization, paving the way for substantial economies of scale.
