A Creactives Case Study
The major Italian railway company Trenitalia faced significant challenges in managing its extensive indirect spend and large, disorganized item master data. With over 300 million euros in yearly spend and 200,000 items spread across nearly 300 commodity groups, their data suffered from poor quality, a lack of standardization, and many duplicates. They partnered with the vendor Creactives to implement a solution to define a corporate taxonomy and cleanse their master data.
Creactives implemented their TAM - MMDM solution, which was adopted to support the new UNI-EN15380-2 standard. This project enabled Trenitalia to exploit existing information, detect missing data, and identify duplicates, which prevented new ones from being created. The results were substantial, including a 70% reduction in RFQ time and the discovery of duplicate items representing one million euros in inventory value within the first six months. The solution, promoted by purchasing, was quickly adopted as the primary search engine by over 90 users in the engineering department.
