A Crayon Case Study
BouMatic, a manufacturer of dairy equipment, faced challenges in optimizing the speed and accuracy of the teat detection phase in its automated milking systems. The process required intricate pattern recognition to adapt to different cows and varying lighting conditions. To address this, BouMatic collaborated with Inmeta, a Crayon company, to leverage their expertise in Computer Vision and Neural Networks.
Crayon, through its company Inmeta, implemented a solution utilizing a convolutional neural network to process 3D images for automated teat detection. This resulted in a 99% accuracy rate in object detection and real-time processing at 31 frames per second. The enhancement significantly reduced attachment misses and time in the milking booth, translating to tens of millions of dollars in future value for BouMatic while also improving animal welfare.
