Senseforce, a predictive-maintenance platform for industrial machinery manufacturers, needed a real-time, flexible data store that could handle any kind of machine data and scale to thousands of connected devices. To meet those requirements they selected Crate.io’s CrateDB to support high-volume, low-latency ingestion and analytics (a single saw can produce ~50,000 messages/day or ~1.2 GB/day).

Crate.io’s CrateDB powers Senseforce Galaxy, a distributed edge-cloud data warehouse deployed as a 5-node cluster on bare-metal Linux with Docker Swarm; Senseforce flattens reference data to avoid costly joins and runs fast aggregations on ingest. The result: the platform was built and rolled out in under 12 months, delivers real-time dashboards and quick ad-hoc analytics to non-DB users, scales elastically for spikes, and has enabled customer growth and geographic expansion.
