A Crane Electronics Group Case Study

Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK deploys Crane Electronics’ insulated WrenchStar Multi-e for 1000V battery assembly safety

Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK, one of the world's largest vehicle manufacturers, required a highly accurate and electrically insulated assembly solution for their new EV battery facility. Their challenge was to find digital torque wrenches that could perform precise quality checks on a variety of fasteners while ensuring user safety and product security in a high-voltage environment. They partnered with Crane Electronics Group to develop a tailored tool for this critical process.

Crane Electronics worked alongside Nissan's engineers to devise, develop, and produce the new WrenchStar Multi-e, an insulated digital torque wrench that could withstand up to 1000V. The solution provided extremely high accuracy for quality control and incorporated user feedback for ease of use. Nissan reported that the new wrenches impressed operators with their ergonomics and allowed the company to tightly control their torque quality from the very beginning of the battery assembly process, meeting all safety requirements.
