Increasing production efficiency and implementing a new torque data management process for The Norton Motorcycle Company

Norton Motorcycles, a renowned British manufacturer of luxury motorcycles, sought to implement a new production torque data management process to improve traceability and quality assurance in its hand-built manufacturing. Their challenge was to move from a manual process with no digital data recording to a cost-effective digital solution. Crane Electronics provided a tailored solution for this challenge.

Crane Electronics implemented a bespoke system using WrenchStar Multi digital torque wrenches and TCI controllers integrated with third-party operator guidance systems. This solution allowed Norton Motorcycles to accurately measure and digitally record critical assembly data. The results included increased production efficiency and the ability to onboard new operators more quickly with reduced training requirements, while ensuring a high standard of production quality.
