Preview of the World’s Largest Manufacturers of Aerospace Nacelles and Cowlings Case Study

Improving the efficiency of torque application and data traceability for a nacelle manufacturer

A major manufacturer of aerospace nacelles and cowlings faced challenges with a slow, inefficient process for applying torque to critical fasteners, which used outdated manual wrenches and required time-consuming manual data logging. To address this, Crane Electronics was engaged to improve the speed of the process and provide complete data traceability without compromising on quality.

Crane Electronics implemented its IQWrench2 digital torque wrenches and OMS software. This solution automated data collection, improved traceability by linking torque records to specific nacelle serial numbers, and increased process efficiency. The customer was extremely happy with the results, achieving a significantly improved level of quality recording and reporting and gaining complete peace of mind regarding the security of critical components.
