Case Study: a large steel-making plant achieves smoother production flow with Crane Electronics’ bespoke torque monitoring solution

A Crane Electronics Group Case Study

Preview of the Large Steel-Making Plant Case Study

Delivering a bespoke torque application to safeguard a vital steel production operation

Crane Electronics Group provided a bespoke solution for a large steel-making plant, the UK's largest manufacturer of steel products. The customer's challenge was preventing frequent breakdowns and "pile-ups" on their production lines caused by a mismatch between the speed of steel production and the conveyor belts transporting the material.

The solution implemented by Crane Electronics was the installation of a series of custom industrial torque transducers along the conveyor system. This monitored the torque and load, allowing the speed of the lines to be automatically managed. This resulted in fewer occurrences of downtime and pile-ups, saving the customer time and money. Crane Electronics also provided the plant with greater control over their process and alerts for potential conveyor issues.
