Using Mobile SD-WAN with Satellite & LTE Creates Always-On Connectivity for Vehicles in Remote Areas

Kymeta, a provider of flat‑panel satellite terminals for fixed and mobile platforms, needed reliable connectivity in remote areas and wanted to combine satellite links with high‑performance LTE to reduce cost and improve performance. To address this, Kymeta selected Cradlepoint’s NetCloud Service for Mobile, delivered via purpose‑built in‑vehicle LTE routers, to add LTE, SD‑WAN, WiFi‑as‑WAN, GPS/telematics integration and cloud management to its solutions.

Cradlepoint deployed mobile SD‑WAN, multi‑WAN LTE routers and NetCloud Manager to intelligently route traffic between LTE and satellite, provide passenger WiFi on buses, support IoT sensors that capture road‑surface measurements (60 readings per second), and enable remote monitoring and automated WAN failover — including disaster deployments during Hurricane Michael. As a result, Cradlepoint helped Kymeta achieve always‑on connectivity for passenger and first‑responder vehicles, centralized network visibility, and automated WAN switching to keep mission‑critical data on the best path.
