United Oil deploys Cradlepoint Solutions to Cut Costs and Optimize Customer Experience

United Oil, a 126‑station Southern California retailer, struggled with highly variable DSL and phone costs while needing reliable bandwidth for cloud timekeeping, centralized POS/promotions, inventory, pump sensors and ATMs. The company had used Cradlepoint as a failover solution and turned to Cradlepoint (CRADLEPOINT ARC & CLOUD MANAGEMENT SERVICE / NetCloud Cloud Manager) to address the need for a primary, managed connectivity solution.

Cradlepoint implemented Verizon 4G LTE as the primary connection at 106 locations and deployed NetCloud Cloud Manager for centralized remote management, replacing DSL and two phone lines at most sites. The change delivered rapid payback (wireless savings covered Cradlepoint solutions in months), more stable predictable costs, reduced on‑site IT trips through remote troubleshooting and firmware updates, enabled VoIP and pooled data to avoid overages, and even supported deployment of United Oil’s own ATMs for new revenue.
