Students Use School District’s Private Cellular Network for Better Distance Learning Experience

Murray City School District faced widespread unreliable home Internet during the 2020 pandemic as students shifted to live-streamed remote learning. To close the digital divide and provide manageable, high-bandwidth connections for 1:1 Chromebooks, the district turned to Cradlepoint and its Private LTE approach using CBRS spectrum and cloud-managed NetCloud Service.

Cradlepoint supplied more than 400 CBRS‑compatible edge routers and a couple dozen CBSD eNodeBs, enabling a town‑wide Private LTE network that students can access for free. The NetCloud-managed solution lets IT preconfigure plug‑and‑play units (working immediately in nine out of 10 cases), push firmware/security updates remotely, and avoid per‑student cellular plans—leaving only an SAS subscription—while delivering stable, higher‑performance connectivity for distance learning.
