A Cradlepoint Case Study

Statue Cruises Uses Cradlepoint for POS & CCTV, Along With Cloud Management for Instant Updates

Statue Cruises, the exclusive ferry operator to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, faced intermittent on-boat connectivity that disrupted POS transactions and CCTV streaming and required frequent manual troubleshooting. To solve this, the company deployed Cradlepoint solutions—COR Series routers, AER2100 platforms, and NetCloud Manager—using WiFi as WAN with 4G LTE failover and cloud-based management.

Cradlepoint implemented COR Series on shore and AER2100s on vessels, with NetCloud Manager enabling rapid, SIM-based deployments, remote configuration and instant firmware updates. The result was uninterrupted POS and live camera feeds, a jump in on-board credit card transactions from a few dollars per day to about $1,000 per day, reduced man-hours for maintenance, and flexible pop-up networking and expansion options.
