A Cradlepoint Case Study
The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism (SCPRT) faced a 2013 mandate to generate enough income to cover the operating costs of its 47 state parks, making it essential to modernize visitor services and infrastructure. To meet that challenge, SCPRT partnered with Cradlepoint, deploying Cradlepoint NetCloud Service for Branch and cloud‑managed routers with embedded LTE to update welcome centers and expand public WiFi across parks.
Cradlepoint delivered cloud-managed routers, LTE backhaul, NetCloud Manager and flexible modem support to replace T1/DSL and MPLS links, enabling interactive kiosks, digital signage, touchscreens, webcams, and secure VPN tunneling for POS and reservation systems. The result: deployments that once took up to a month can be completed in a day, WiFi can be provided anywhere with power and a cellular signal, centralized monitoring simplifies operations, and connectivity costs were reduced—helping SCPRT improve visitor experience and advance toward financial independence.
