Scale Computing Uses Cradlepoint-Connected Demo Units to Bring Simplified Virtualization to Customers

Scale Computing, provider of HC3 all-in-one virtualization appliances, needed reliable, affordable network connectivity for its portable “data-center-in-a-box” demo clusters used at trade shows and remote events. Faced with unreliable or costly venue networks and the need for services like NTP and DHCP, Scale turned to Cradlepoint and its routing devices to deliver wired Ethernet plus 3G/4G/LTE wireless WAN connectivity, WiFi bridging, and core network services.

Cradlepoint’s routers give Scale multiple connection options with automatic failover, secure LAN features, and quick setup—allowing demos to be up in about 10 minutes, supporting five simultaneous booth users, and avoiding expensive venue Ethernet charges (each device typically pays for itself on day one). Scale reports rugged dependability (clusters and Cradlepoint units average ~250,000 miles of travel and more than three years in use with no failures) and plans to continue using Cradlepoint, including COR Series hardware, for future demo clusters.
