Sacramento County Leverages Cradlepoint Services to Secure Voting System

Sacramento County Office of Elections faced a rapid transition to a vote‑center model under CA SB 450, needing secure, reliable connectivity at 80‑plus temporary voting sites on a very short timeline with little onsite IT support and aging, failure‑prone equipment. To meet these challenges the county selected Cradlepoint and its NetCloud Service for Branch — including cloud‑managed AER Series LTE routers — to provide a simple, secure WAN for vote centers and headquarters.

Cradlepoint deployed dual‑modem/dual‑carrier AER routers with private APNs, encrypted IP‑VPN overlays, LAN access controls, and centralized visibility via NetCloud Manager, enabling remote configuration and real‑time monitoring. The solution secured ballot data, allowed Cradlepoint to provision and configure the 80+ devices in minutes (about 15 minutes for the remaining devices), delivered nonstop connectivity with automatic carrier failover in seconds, and simplified troubleshooting and management across all vote centers.
