Nevada Highway Patrol Leverages Cloud-Managed 4G LTE to Keep Tech Tools & CAD System Connected

Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP), a division of the Nevada Department of Public Safety with 482 commissioned officers and a fleet of 544 cruisers covering more than 110,000 square miles, needed reliable in-vehicle connectivity and a way to manage hundreds of routers remotely across varied cellular coverage. To address carrier variability and eliminate time-consuming onsite updates, NHP selected Cradlepoint’s NetCloud Service for Mobile and cloud management (NetCloud Manager) for carrier flexibility and centralized control.

Cradlepoint deployed cloud-managed in-vehicle routers with embedded LTE (dual‑SIM), WiFi, GPS/telematics, CJIS‑compliant security and 24x7 support, enabling zero‑touch group configurations, point‑and‑click fleetwide updates, and remote firmware pushes. The solution improved CAD and GPS reliability for faster dispatch and officer safety (helping locate a trooper after a crash), reduced IT workload and deployment time, allowed remote carrier switching as signal conditions change, and gave troopers WiFi to complete citations and reports from the scene.
