Case Study: Imcon International achieves always-on, multi‑WAN connectivity for Internet Backpacks with Cradlepoint's NetCloud Service

A Cradlepoint Case Study

IoT-Enabled Backpacks Spread Internet Access Everywhere with Multi-WAN Functionality

Imcon International builds self-contained Internet Backpacks to deliver connectivity to students, first responders, and other users in remote or stressed environments. They needed an all-in-one edge routing solution that supports cellular broadband, satellite, WiFi, and GPS while enabling remote monitoring and troubleshooting at scale. To meet this need, Imcon deployed Cradlepoint’s NetCloud Service for mobile — using cloud-managed, embedded-LTE routers in each backpack.

Cradlepoint delivered cloud-managed mobile routers, NetCloud Manager, and the COR Extensibility Dock to provide multi-WAN functionality, dual-modem/multi‑SIM carrier diversity, GPS visibility, and 24x7 support. The result is automatic failover across cellular, WiFi-as-WAN, and satellite links, remote fixes that can be done in minutes (avoiding truck rolls), GPS tracking and usage analytics, and reduced development overhead — saving roughly a year of back-end work while improving reliability for end users.
