Guelph Public Library Bookmobile Takes Always-On Connectivity on the Road

Guelph Public Library’s Bookmobile serves daycares, senior residences, and neighbourhoods across Guelph, Ontario, but many scheduled stops suffered weak cellular coverage that left on-board laptops and the wireless receipt printer unable to access patron accounts reliably. To fix this, the library deployed Cradlepoint NetCloud for Mobile—an in-vehicle LTE router with routing, a WiFi access point, content filtering, WiFi-as-WAN, and cloud configuration and troubleshooting.

Cradlepoint installed its purpose-built in-vehicle LTE solution and cloud-managed NetCloud service, giving the bookmobile stable LTE connectivity, multiple SSIDs, VPN access to live patron data, and remote management. Since the permanent installation in January 2017 the Guelph Public Library has had zero network disruptions, eliminated operational truck rolls, stopped weekly service calls, and can now process check-outs in real time and offer WiFi wherever the vehicle goes.
