Fox Sports Reduces Pop-Up WAN Costs with 4G LTE Connected to Portable Communication Kits

Fox Sports, the multi-platform U.S. sports broadcaster, needed reliable, instant network access for mobile pop-up broadcasts and off‑site meetings where wired infrastructure is often unavailable or prohibitively expensive. To cost‑effectively guarantee connectivity for APs, VoIP, staff laptops and corporate applications at these remote locations, Fox Sports turned to Cradlepoint’s NetCloud Service for pop‑up networks (NetCloud Service for Mobile) and purpose‑built LTE routers.

Cradlepoint provided rugged portable communications kits—networks‑in‑a‑box—with embedded LTE routers and cloud management (NetCloud Manager) for WAN termination, traffic management, firewalling and remote troubleshooting. The solution delivered instant, highly reliable pop‑up WANs, enabled remote monitoring and management, and materially reduced costs by replacing expensive wired circuits (Fox Sports cited wired quotes up to $7,500 per day for a 10 Mbps connection), while improving uptime and support during live broadcasts.
