Fortune 500 Retailer Increases Uptime & Reduces Costs with All Wireless WAN in Stores

Fortune 500 Retailer, with more than 1,400 stores across the U.S. and Canada and over 35,000 employees, needed reliable WAN connectivity for POS, security cameras, hand-held scanners, VoIP and other store systems. Frequent network outages, router failures, and the complexity of managing 70+ ISPs were disrupting operations and driving up costs, so the retailer turned to Cradlepoint and its NetCloud Service for Branch to enable an all-wireless branch architecture.

Cradlepoint deployed NetCloud Service for Branch using two wireless edge routers per store (each with a built-in firewall and LTE modem using different carriers) to provide primary/secondary routing, multi-carrier wireless-to-wireless failover and VRRP-based redundancy. As a result, the retailer eliminated wired connectivity at branches, reduced network downtime, centralized management, simplified data plans and lowered hardware costs—saving millions of dollars per year thanks to Cradlepoint’s solution.
