Fort Benning Uses LTE Kits to Quickly Connect Quarantine Tents During COVID-19 Pandemic

Fort Benning, one of the largest U.S. Army training outposts, needed immediate network connectivity for 34 acres of temporary COVID‑19 quarantine tents to support soldier Wi‑Fi and handheld ID scanners. The Fort Benning IS team faced tight timelines, supply delays, and limited on-site staff, so they sought a rapidly deployable, remotely manageable solution — deploying Mobile Broadband Kits (MBKs) that featured Cradlepoint NetCloud Service and enterprise-class LTE routers.

Cradlepoint’s solution was delivered via rugged MBKs with built-in LTE, Wi‑Fi, batteries, antennas, and unified threat management; kits were shipped and deployed immediately to provide secure connectivity across the quarantine site. Using Cradlepoint NetCloud Manager the IS team could configure, monitor, and troubleshoot links remotely, enabling fast pop‑up networks for the 34‑acre quarantine area and giving Fort Benning a repeatable, secure capability across its 182,000‑acre installation.
