A Cradlepoint Case Study
Federal Agency was called on to establish a pop-up COVID-19 testing and processing point at the Port of Oakland after a cruise ship outbreak (21 people infected) and needed to receive, document, test, and transport more than 3,500 passengers. Reliable Internet in a temporary location was critical to support medical staff, armband RF scanners, PCs, and the Joint Patient Assessment and Tracking System, while meeting tight timelines and strict data-security requirements; the agency engaged Cradlepoint and its NetCloud Service to meet these needs.
Cradlepoint delivered a cloud-managed solution using NetCloud Service with an LTE-enabled IBR1700 router (built-in Wi‑Fi, GPS, security and FirstNet support) and NetCloud Manager for centralized management. The deployment enabled rapid, secure connectivity at the Port of Oakland, supported connected devices and patient-tracking systems, and—with FirstNet priority/pre-emption and managed security—ensured uninterrupted service and protection of sensitive data while responders processed and tested more than 3,500 passengers.
