Cradlepoint’s Ruggedized COR Series Routers Enable Reliable Connectivity for Critical Emergency Services

UVA Health System deployed its iTREAT telemedicine toolkits in ambulances to connect stroke patients with emergency specialists en route, but needed continuous, high‑speed cellular connectivity for live video and remote neurological assessment. After deeming consumer MiFi devices inadequate, UVA Health System selected Cradlepoint’s NetCloud Service for mobile to meet requirements for radio strength, ruggedness, antenna flexibility, and easy in‑vehicle deployment.

Cradlepoint delivered a purpose‑built in‑vehicle LTE router with NetCloud cloud management, GPS/telematics, WiFi‑as‑WAN and flexible antenna options, enabling always‑connected ambulance toolkits that support live video links to the emergency room. The solution cut the iTREAT toolkit’s projected cost in half, fit the required compact form factor (20" x 14" x 8"), and provided reliable, scalable connectivity that has produced promising early study results and the potential to accelerate triage, treatment times, and patient outcomes.
