Cradlepoint Helps California School District Ensure No Child is Left Offline

Coachella Valley Unified School District, serving about 20,000 students across a 1,250‑square‑mile desert region, faced a severe digital divide: many families live below the poverty line and lack home Internet access (100% of students are on free or reduced lunch). To close that gap, the district turned to Cradlepoint and its NetCloud Service for Mobile (cloud‑managed, LTE‑enabled in‑vehicle routing, WiFi, content filtering, GPS/telematics and cloud configuration).

Cradlepoint deployed compact, ruggedized cloud‑managed LTE routers and WiFi on 100 school buses—powered by solar and funded by a $45M bond—so the buses could be parked in rural neighborhoods to deliver “WiFi on Wheels.” The Cradlepoint solution scaled easily across the district, increased student engagement, and contributed to a measurable graduation‑rate rise from 70% to 80%, helping ensure more students stay connected for learning.
