Cradlepoint Enables Disaster Tech Lab to Provide Emergency Internet in Devastated Areas

Disaster Tech Lab, an Irish disaster-relief nonprofit with more than 200 volunteers across 11 countries, needed to provide Internet connectivity in disaster zones and refugee camps that lack electrical and wired infrastructure. To support both secure, password-protected networks for authorities and open WiFi for refugees, Disaster Tech Lab deployed Cradlepoint’s solutions — notably Cradlepoint NetCloud Service for Branch with ruggedised COR-series LTE routers and cloud management via Cradlepoint NetCloud Manager.

Cradlepoint’s cloud-managed, rugged LTE solution delivered mission-critical, always-on connectivity that can be set up quickly in extreme environments; Disaster Tech Lab reports being able to get connectivity available “in a couple of hours.” Using Cradlepoint, the organisation now provides reliable, secure transmission of sensitive data and rapid public WiFi in devastated areas, improving relief coordination and communications for displaced people when it matters most.
