Cradlepoint Enables Administrators to Remotely Access Industrial Scales

CTPZ (C.T.P.Z. Application Innovations) provides custom software for industrial scales used in rail yards, mines and other remote sites. Their challenge was remotely managing firmware upgrades, patches and data extraction from widely dispersed scales without costly, time-consuming technician travel. CTPZ turned to Cradlepoint, deploying Cradlepoint Broadband Adapters and 4G LTE IP-pass-through connectivity to convert cellular to Ethernet access for the scales.

Cradlepoint’s solution lets technicians remotely access each scale over the web by plugging a Cradlepoint adapter into the scale’s RJ-45 port, enabling real-time troubleshooting, software upgrades and data collection. The result: elimination of most on-site service calls (avoiding service trips that cost hundreds of dollars), reliable zero-failure remote management, and avoided infrastructure costs of $5,000–$30,000 for fixed links—letting CTPZ make instant fixes from the office and dramatically cut travel and installation expenses with Cradlepoint.
