Anne Arundel County Fire Department Utilizes Reliable Connectivity & Real-Time GPS Data to Help Save Lives

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department needed always-on, secure vehicle connectivity to support a new Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) so it could dispatch the closest apparatus to emergencies. To solve this, the department turned to Cradlepoint and its NetCloud Service for Mobile and in-vehicle 4G LTE routers to provide reliable GPS data and cloud-managed network access across its fleet.

Cradlepoint deployed cloud-managed in-vehicle routers to nearly 200 fire vehicles and used NetCloud Manager for remote visibility, configuration and security; the routers send GPS coordinates to CAD every 3 seconds. The result was accurate, proximity-based dispatching that speeds response and improves firefighter safety during extreme conditions, plus simplified remote management, enterprise-grade data protection, interoperability with partner agencies, and 24x7 vendor support from Cradlepoint.
