Radial turns to AI Robotic automation to handle demand surges with more flexibility

Radial, a leading B2C eCommerce fulfillment provider, faced challenges in efficiently handling demand surges due to a manual order sortation process. This labor-dependent system was costly and unreliable, especially during a period of labor shortages and eCommerce growth. They needed a flexible, high-throughput automation solution capable of handling a wide variety of oddly shaped health and beauty items. To solve this, Radial turned to the vendor Covariant to implement their AI Robotic Putwalls.

Covariant deployed 12 of its AI Robotic U-Shaped Putwalls, powered by the Covariant Brain. This universal AI enables the robots to see, think, and act, allowing them to pick and sort a wide range of SKUs with high reliability. The solution was fully integrated into Radial's existing systems. The results were highly successful, with the system processing 400,000 units weekly and each robot averaging 100,000 picks per month at a rate of 425 puts per hour. This provided Radial with a flexible, reliable automation solution that reduced labor strain and improved productivity.
