The Hunny Pot Cannabis Co. Sets the Bar for Cannabis Retail in Toronto

The Hunny Pot Cannabis Co., led by owner Hunny Gawri, was the first retail cannabis store slated to open in Toronto and faced extreme time pressure, strict AGCO compliance rules, and high public expectations. To meet a hard April 15 deadline and navigate complex regulations, The Hunny Pot turned to Cova as its point-of-sale partner, using Cova’s mobile POS and launch services to get up and running quickly.

Cova’s launch team installed hardware, onboarded and trained budtenders, and deployed mobile POS terminals that let staff roam the three-floor, 3,000 sq. ft. store with current product information. Cova’s compliance tools—ID scanning, age verification, automated purchase limits, locked hours, and reliable inventory tracking—reduced human error and compliance risk; as a result, The Hunny Pot opened on time at 9 a.m. on April 15 (the only Toronto recreational store to do so), delivered a streamlined customer experience, and avoided fines or license jeopardy.
