Branding Drives Big Revenue & Record Transactions at Hobo Recreational

The Donnelly Group, a prominent British Columbian restaurateur, launched Hobo — a boutique cannabis retail brand — and faced the challenge of creating a memorable, hospitality-driven customer experience while scaling quickly. To run a restaurant-style concierge model and streamline high-volume transactions, Donnelly Group selected Cova and its Cova POS platform to power in-store ordering and backroom fulfillment.

Using Cova’s POS (notably the automatic “save order” double-ticket feature and open API integrations with partners like Dutchie), Hobo moved transaction processing out of the sales floor, ran up to 18 registers simultaneously (vs. four at local competitors), and supported rapid growth from one store to multiple locations. The Cova-powered workflow helped Hobo set the Canadian record for single‑day ticket sales and enabled an aggressive expansion plan that anticipates 29 stores by year end, while opening the door to online ordering and advanced analytics.
