A CourseArc Case Study
The Erickson School at UMBC, a leading institution for Management of Aging Services, was facing declining in-person enrollment for its graduate programs. To expand their reach, they needed to convert ten traditional courses for online delivery but found the initial plan to outsource this development to be prohibitively expensive. They turned to the vendor CourseArc to find a more cost-effective solution.
CourseArc provided the school with a platform that enabled its faculty and staff to develop the online content internally, eliminating the need for expensive external vendors. This insourcing strategy cut the development timeline in half, allowing all ten courses to be delivered in just two and a half years. By using CourseArc, the school saved an estimated $370,000, which was reinvested into program marketing, further digital course development, and international expansion.
