PIDC, Philadelphia’s public-private economic development corporation, faced the challenge of creating a community plan for the Navy Yard during the COVID-19 pandemic. They needed to engage a broad range of stakeholders virtually to gather feedback for the project. To achieve this, they collaborated with their consultant AECOM and used the coUrbanize platform to facilitate public participation.

Using coUrbanize, the team placed on-site signage with QR codes and ran social media ads to drive engagement. The platform allowed for both structured questions and unstructured feedback, which proved vital. This process generated 315 comments from 2,563 users, leading to key insights that improved the transit plan. The final plan was positively received, with the approvals board specifically appreciating the community-driven suggestions.
