Uniting Business Spend Processes Delivers Visibility and Savings

Australian Unity, a mutually owned Australian financial services group offering insurance, investments and health services, faced fragmented operations across many offices. Paper-based procure-to-pay processes, dispersed vendor management and strict government spend regulations made compliance, visibility and efficiency increasingly difficult as the organisation grew.

Australian Unity implemented Coupa’s business spend management platform (Procurement, Invoicing, Contracts, Expenses, SSO) to digitize P2P and centralize supplier interactions. In two years the company saved $16M (surpassing an $11M four-year target), moved 99% of invoices to electronic processing (about 7,000 invoices/month with only ~40 on paper) and achieved 71% supplier-initiated e-invoices, boosting transparency, compliance and finance-team efficiency.
