Service Corporation International (SCI) is North America's leading deathcare provider with more than 2,100 locations, ~27,000 employees and over $3 billion in revenue. SCI needed a spend-management solution that was intuitive for an older workforce, could be rolled out quickly across a large supplier base, reduce manual invoice work, capture early-payment discounts, and provide better visibility to eliminate rogue spend and optimize vendors and SKUs.

SCI implemented Coupa for its ease of use, mobile approvals and rapid rollout—phase one in nine months and a one-day supplier onboarding—resulting in 98% of P.O.s sent electronically to 160,000 suppliers and locations saving 30+ hours/week on manual invoice coding. The program accelerated invoice processing and payment timing, improved item-level visibility and vendor optimization, and enabled SCI to hit its three-year savings target in the first year and stay on track in year two.
