A Coupa Software Case Study

Maintaining Liquidity while Managing Volatility

Save the Children International is a global humanitarian charity operating in more than 100 countries with a London-based treasury that must maintain liquidity and move funds quickly into remote, volatile regions. The team oversees 500+ bank accounts, 4,000+ monthly FX transactions and up to $1.5 billion annually, but faced fragmented, manual processes and limited bank visibility that hampered fast, secure funding during crises.

By fully adopting Coupa Treasury as its TMS and integrating SWIFT, MT940/MT300 messaging, and payment connectivity, the treasury automated bank visibility, confirmations and local payments—eliminating Excel-based workarounds and speeding intercompany transfers. Visibility rose from ~35% to over 90%, payments became faster and more efficient, FX execution improved, and the team can now reliably fund 60+ country offices while preparing to roll out FX shared services across the movement.
