An independent U.S. oil and gas company that acquires, develops, explores and produces properties faced a paper-based procurement and invoicing environment that needed modernization to handle complex finance structures (1,775,000 GL accounts, 1,600 budget lines), 6,000 suppliers and multiple integrations with legacy systems.

The company implemented Coupa in an 8‑month rollout to transform requisitioning, approvals, budgeting, purchase orders, receiving, invoicing and reporting, with integrations to Excalibur (budgets, suppliers, accounts, invoice payments, and invoice exchange) and Kofax for scanned inbound invoices via sFTP/PIDX. After 16 days in production the system processed $168M in invoice spend and $18M in PO spend across 962 POs and 7,190 invoices, supporting 875 users.
