Vanquis Banking Group, a UK lender that serves underserved customers, needed to tighten internal financial controls after departments operated autonomously and only 25% of purchases were PO-backed. The lack of digitized invoicing and manual tax checks left the bank exposed—issues that became critical during the pandemic—so VBG embarked on a group-wide Coupa deployment in 2018–2022 and sought a partner to manage the complex, compliance-sensitive rollout.

Working with Coupa implementation partner Barkers, VBG deployed procurement, invoicing, and a supplier portal in a two-phase rollout with role-based access and integrations. The result: nearly 70% user adoption in one year, PO-backed invoices rose to 99%, digital invoicing increased 5x, requisition approvals shortened to 3.2 days, supplier records for 2,000 vendors centralized, tax coding automated, and VBG has realized $23 million in savings since 2018.
