Convenience store chain Casey’s digitally transforms and makes procurement invisible vision possible with support from Coupa

Casey’s, a Midwest convenience-store and pizza chain with more than 2,400 locations across 16 states, faced a major procurement challenge: as of 2020 it had no formal procurement function, relied on manual, paper‑based processes, and lacked visibility and control over spend. Leadership hired Jaime Robles as Chief Procurement Officer to build a centralized, technology‑driven procurement organization and drive a companywide digital transformation.

Robles and his team implemented Coupa Source-to-Pay as the core of a “procurement tech house,” launching the platform in four months and moving electronic processing from 20% to over 70% of source‑to‑pay activities. The initiative created one central source of spend data, enabled self‑service for business users, reduced costs by preventing leakage and cutting waste, optimized operations, and established a scalable foundation for future integrations and advanced analytics.
