Case Study: Anixter achieves faster, more accurate automated takeoffs with Countfire

A Countfire Case Study

The advantages of true, automated takeoffs with Anixter

Anixter, a global distributor of network, security, electrical and utility solutions, needed faster, more reliable takeoffs for large industrial projects. Eric Bronson from Anixter’s Technical Solutions Support found their previous point-and-click software slow and error-prone, forcing occasional manual counting and delaying quotes because drawings were numerous, low quality and time-consuming to process. They turned to Countfire’s SaaS takeoff solution to address these issues.

Countfire’s cloud-based app uploads and sharpens PDFs, strips extraneous data, automatically counts symbols across multiple drawings, measures complex cable runs and exports results to Excel. The impact for Anixter was dramatic: a subway job of 40 drawings was completed in just over 4 hours (versus roughly 12 hours plus ~$230 in reproduction and scaling costs manually), Countfire halved processing time, cut costs, and produced accuracy within about 100 feet over 40,000 feet, while speeding multi-floor and multi-drawing counts. Countfire’s automation and Excel reporting streamlined quoting and improved overall efficiency.
