A Countfire Case Study

Open Technology uses takeoff software for lighting controls

Open Technology, a specialist in designing, manufacturing and commissioning intelligent lighting control systems (including their LiGO® system) that supplies projects such as universities, Parliament and railway stations, faced a time‑consuming challenge: manually counting takeoffs and preparing accurate quotations for large, complex buildings. To address this, the company adopted Countfire’s automated takeoff software.

Using Countfire (they now run two licences), Open Technology cut typical takeoff time from 3–4 days to about 1.5 days—saving more than half the time—while improving accuracy and making revisions easy to check. Countfire’s itemised device counts and stored projects reduced printing and rework, sped up quoting and freed Kevin Strudley to spend more time on business development and site work.
