Case Study: ROC wins a £5.5m project and streamlines estimating with Countfire

A Countfire Case Study

How Countfire helped ROC win a £5.5m project

ROC, a mechanical and electrical contractor founded in 2004 with a turnover around £16m, faced the challenge of estimating very large electrical projects such as the Brighton 3Ts hospital, which involved over 250 electrical drawings. Manual takeoffs with printed A0/A1 sheets were time-consuming, error-prone and costly to print, so ROC’s estimating team led by Mike Tydd adopted Countfire’s takeoff software to streamline counting and reduce the risk of missed items.

Countfire automated and digitised ROC’s counting process, letting estimators zoom, track what’s been counted, export results to spreadsheets and keep site teams and quantity surveyors up to date with variations. The solution reduced paper and rework, sped up estimates and helped ROC win a £5.5m electrical package on the Brighton 3Ts project; ROC now relies on Countfire across estimating and plans to expand licenses as workload grows.
