A CounterPath Case Study
Bosch, the global technology and services company, needed a more flexible and cost-effective way to support its move to VoIP across Germany and Asia Pacific. With many employees already working on laptops or computers, Bosch wanted a softphone solution that could integrate voice, IM/presence, and video into its unified communications strategy, while working with existing SIP PBXs, XMPP presence, and video infrastructure. CounterPath’s Bria softphone was selected to meet these requirements.
CounterPath implemented Bria with customized integration for Bosch’s directory, call history, and deskphone-to-softphone call transfer, while also supporting encrypted voice, XMPP-based IM/presence, and H.264 video. The result was deployment to more than 30,000 employees’ laptops, improving communication and productivity across teams while reducing costs by avoiding many stationary VoIP desksets. Bosch reported that CounterPath’s softphones significantly lowered communications cost per employee.
