A CounterPath Case Study
AT&T Foundries, the innovation arm of AT&T, needed a fast way to prototype in-car voice communications that would work over the car’s data connection without relying on a user’s smartphone, Bluetooth tethering, or the phone being present at all. The goal was to create a seamless, car-appropriate voice experience that could support personalized calling and messaging while minimizing integration effort with the IMS network. CounterPath’s Bria SDK was selected for the project.
CounterPath implemented Bria SDK on the car head unit using its Android SDK and SIP/IMS connectivity to enable reliable voice calls through the vehicle’s data connection. The prototype was delivered in about 12 weeks, while the Bria integration itself took only 1–2 days of effective work, helping AT&T Foundries move quickly and focus on the user experience. CounterPath’s solution proved easier to integrate than alternatives and created a reusable building block for future prototyping.
