SafetyCulture, the Australian creator of the mobile-first iAuditor inspection app used by over 9,000 organizations and delivering 1.47M inspections per month, needed a scalable, flexible and secure data platform to handle rapidly growing documents and media (about 1.69M images added monthly) and to support offline field use and fast application innovation across industries.

The team re‑architected iAuditor on Couchbase (with Couchbase Lite for offline sync and Elasticsearch for indexing) on AWS, leveraging JSON document support and microservices. The platform now holds 17M+ items (~560GB and growing), delivers thousands of reads per second via caching, provides cross‑datacenter replication and backups for high availability, and makes it faster to add features—next up, using N1QL to drive new capabilities.
