Case Study: Gannett achieves scalability and agility with Couchbase

A Couchbase Case Study

Preview of the Gannett Case Study

How Gannett achieved scalability and agility with NoSQL

Gannett, one of America’s largest media companies reaching roughly 96–100 million people monthly, faced network outages and replication problems with its SQL Server infrastructure and sought a more portable, lower-cost platform. To solve performance and scalability limits, Gannett evaluated several NoSQL options, including MongoDB and Cassandra.

Gannett selected Couchbase for its memory-first architecture, which lets the company consolidate caching into the database layer and improve read/write performance. Running Couchbase on AWS, Gannett is redesigning its architecture to achieve greater scale and access at a fraction of its prior annual infrastructure cost.
