Concur Scaling SaaS with zero downtime

Concur, an SAP company that provides cloud-based travel and expense management, needed a highly scalable, low-latency data platform to support its multi-tier, multi-language SaaS environment while minimizing operational overhead and downtime. The challenge was to find a single solution that could be used across .NET and Java tiers and scale fluidly as demand grew.

Concur deployed a large Couchbase Server cluster using the Enyim (.NET) client and spymemcached (Java) client, with a reverse-proxy single-IP setup for REST and monitoring. Couchbase’s cluster management let them add and remove nodes without downtime or manual reconfiguration (clients auto-update on topology changes), delivering sub-millisecond response times and seamless capacity growth.
