Preview of the Xaman Case Study

Xaman boosts wallet security from 43% to 89% with Cossack Labs

Xaman, a self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet for the XRP Ledger, required a security assessment to strengthen the protection of user private keys and transaction integrity. The wallet's developer, XRPL Labs, engaged the vendor, Cossack Labs, to conduct a comprehensive audit, addressing challenges such as securing sensitive data against large-scale exploits and improving overall cryptographic security.

Cossack Labs performed a risk-based security assessment, which led to a complete re-design of the application's cryptographic layer. This effort fixed 82% of the identified cryptographic weaknesses. As a result, Xaman's security posture improved dramatically, with its compliance with the OWASP MASVS security requirements increasing from 43% to 89% after implementing the recommended fixes, establishing a strong foundation for future development.
